ATHLETIC:

(a) International circuit Athletic Meet held at Trivendrum on 6th July 1999 and Sub. JATA SHANKAR secured 'SILVER' medal in 400 Mtr race.

 

(b) 8th Asian Junior Athletic Championship ( International Level) held at Singapore from 30 Sep to 3 Oct, 1999 and Insp N Gojen Singh won 'SILVER' medal in 10000 Mtr race and 6th position in 5000 Mtr race.

 

(c) 48th All India Police Athletic Championship held at Gandhi Nagar (Gujrat) from 7 to 10 Dec 1999 and BSF won the following medals:

i) Gold - 3
ii) Silver - 3 ( Overall III position)
iii) Bronze - 4

(d) 48th All India Police Cross Country Championship held at Trivendrum from 27 to 31 Jan 2000 and BSF Secured 1st and 2ndposition in 12 KM race and 4 KM Race respectively.

(e) 6th National Federation Cup Athletic Championship held at Lucknow from 15 to 17 March 2000 and BSF won 2 Gold and 2 Bronze Medals.

(f) Insp JATA SHANKAR has been selected by AAFI for Trg cum competition exposure of Sr Athletic team held at KEIV ( UKERAINE) from 20 May to 23 June 2000.

 

(g) BSF Atheletic team secured 3rd position in 49th All India Police Athletic Championship held at HQr Jalandhar from 30 Oct to 02 Nov 2000.

 

BASKETBALL

(a) 49th All India Police Games held at Dharamshala from 29 May to 3 June 2000 and BSF Basketball team secured IIIrd position.

 

CYCLING

53th Senior National Cycling Championship held at New Delhi from 17 to 21 April 2000 and HC Kumar Eneous won 'GOLD' medal and also declared fastest man of the meet.

 

EQUESTRIAN

 

(a)XIX All India Police Equestrian games and mounted police Duty meet held at BSF Academy Tekanpur from 11 to 17 Nov 1999 and BSF team won the overall Championship.
Shri Naresh Tehlan, DC has been declared best rider of the meet.

 

FOOTBALL

(a) 48th All India Police India Championship held at Chumukedima (Dimapur) from 8 to 20 Nov 1999 and BSF team won the Championship by defeating Punjab Police.

 

HOCKEY:

SI Harbhajan Singh of BSF has represented Indian Hockey team in the AKHBAR ELYOUM International Hockey Tournament held from 2 to 12th Feb’99 at CAIRO (EGYPT).

48th All India Police Hockey Championship held at Delhi from 12 to 21 Dec 1999 and BSF won the Championship by defeating Punjab Police.

 

All India Guru Tej Bahadur Memorial Gold Cup Hockey Tournament held at Mumbai from 25 Apr to 5 May 2000 and BSF won the tournament by defeating BPCL.

 

  13th ASIAN GAMES – 1998:

The following sportsmen of BSF represented the Country in the 13th Asian Games-1998 and secured medals as noted against each, held at Bangkok from 6 to 21st Dec’98:

(a) HC Ram Bir Singh -        GOLD Medal (Kabaddi)

(b) Inspr Jata Shankar  -        Silver Medal (4x400 m Relay)

JUDO

(a) Following Judokas participated in the Senior National Judo Championship-99 held at Bangalore from 17 to 19 Jan’99 and won following medals :

iii) HC Samunder Tokas - 100 Kg - Bronze
iv) Insp Sarabjit Singh - 90 Kg - Bronze

(c) HC Vinod Solanki represented country in the Asian Judo Championship held at OSAKA (JAPAN) from 24 to 29 May 2000.

 (d) HC Samunder Tokas represented Country in the 8th Vietnam International Judo Championship held at Hochimil city (Vietnam) from 3 to 7 Aug 2000 and won 'SILVER' medal.

 

(e) HC Karambir Singh represented country in the IInd Children of Asia International Sports Games held at Yasustosk (Russia) from 4 to 13 Aug 2000 and won 'Bronze' Medal.

 

SWIMMING

a)13th Asia Pacific Age Group Swimming and Diving Championship held at New Delhi from 22 to 24 Aug, 1999 and SI S H Hakimmudin won Bronze Medal in 200 F/S.

 

b)54th Senior National Aquatic meet held at Bombay from 5 to 10 Dec.1999 and won medals as per details given below :-

 

1) Insp Harender Singh -Silver-2
2) SI S H Hakimmudin Gold-4, Silver-1, Bronze-1.

 

c)48th All India Police Aquatic Championship held at Trivendrum from 27 to 31 Jan, 1999 and won Gold-2, Silver-16 and Bronze-6. BSF team secured overall IInd position.

 

d) 14th Asian Pacific age group Swimming and Diving Championship held at Taipai from 4 to 6 Aug,2000 and SI S H Hakimuddin won 1 Bronze medal.

 

e) SI S H Hakimuddin represented the country in the 6th Asian Swimming Championship-2000 held at Russia (South Korea) from 27 Mar to 2 Apr 2000.

 

f) SI S H Hakimuddin represented country in the Sydney Olympic-2000.

 

VOLLEY BALL

 

a) Shri Jagir Singh, DC selected as Chief coach of Indian Volleyball team and represented the country in the Rashid International Volleyball tournament held at Dubai (UAE) from 27 Dec,99 to 3 Jan,2000 and Indian team secured IIIrd position.

 

b) 49th All India Police Volleyball Championship held at Dharamshala from 27 May to 3 June,2000 and secured overalol IIIrd position.

 

WATER SPORTS

 

a) Regional Caneoing meet held at Nainital from 5 to 7 Jan,99 and won 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 3 Bronze.

 

b) 6th Four Squar White Water Challenge held at Shivpuri from 23 to 25 Apr,99. BSF won the overall championship.

 

c) BSF Water Sports team represented in the National games 1999 held at Imphal from 14 to 25 Feb,99 and won 4 Gold, 3 Silver and 7 Bronze Medals.

 

d) 1th National Inivitational Rafting competition held at Kullu (HP) from 13 to 14 Oct,99 and BSF secured overall IInd position with 5 Golds, 5 Silver each in Raft sprint and Raft Sallalon respectively.

 

e) Teesta Tea Tourism Festival held at Sikkimn from 2-3 Dec,99. BSF Water Sports team won the overall Championship.

 

f) 10th National Kayaking and Canoeing Championship held at Bhopal from 13 to 16 Jan,2000. BSF team won 1 Gold, 10 Silver and 8 Bronze medals.

 

g) International Marathon Kayaking and Canoeing-2000 held at Allahabad from 6 to 8 Feb 2000 and BSF won 2 Gold and 1 Silver medal.

 

h) Invitational Open National Kayaking & Canoeing Championship held at Pong Dam (HP) from 18-19 Feb, 2000 and BSF won 4 Gold and 1 Bronze Medals.

 

j) 7th Ganga White Water Challenge held at Shivpuri (Rishikesh) from 5 to 7 Apr,2000 and BSF won overall Championship by winning 3 Gold Medals.

 

k) 11th National Kayaking and Canoeing Championship held at Nainital (UP) from 24-27 May,2000 and BSF won 3 Silver and 3 Bronze medals.

 

l) Rafting Festival (Open National) held at Kullu (HP) from 22-24 June,2000 and BSF won 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 3 Bronze medals.

 

WEIGHT LIFTING

a) SI Tejinder Singh Wt lifter represented country in Senior Asian Wt lifting Championship held at Wohon (China) from 28 Aug to 5th Sept,99 and secured IVth position.

 

b) SI Tejinder Singh Wt lifter represented country in the Asian Wt lifting Championship held at OSAKA (Japan) from 2 to 6 May 2000.

 

WRESTLING

a) 48th All India Police Wrestling Championship held at PAP HQr Jalandhar from 26 to 30 Oct,1999. BSF team secured position as under :-

i) Free Style team position - II
ii) Greeco Roman team position - III

b) Junior National Wrestling Championship held at Lucknow from 27 Apr to 01 May,1999 and BSF won the following medals:

i) CT Dgarambir Singh - G R - 97 kg - Silver
ii) CT Ajit Singh - G R - 63 kg - Bronze

c) Federation Cup Wrestling Championship held at Kolhapur from 13 to 15 Jan,99 and BSF won the following medals:

i) SI Bhagat Singh - F S - 97 kg - Gold
ii) CT Mukesh Kumar - G R - 97 kg - Gold

d) Inspr Rakesh Kumar represented the Indian Free Style Wrestling team which participated in the 2000 Asian Free Style Senior Wrestling Championship held at GUILIN (CHINA) from 26 to 28 April,2000.

 

e) 35th Senior National Indian Style Wrestling Championship held at Kozhikode (Kerala) from 11 to 14 May, 2000 and BSF won overall Championship by winning 4 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze medals.

 

SOUTH ASIAN FEDERATION (8th SAF GAMES)

In the 8th SAF Games held at Kathmandu (Nepal) from 26 Sept to 04th Oct,1999. SI S H Hakimuddin BSF Swimmer won two gold medals with SAF game record.

Shri Dharampal Tokas, DC and Shri Brijkant Sharma, AC have been selected as a technical official and Indian team Manager respectively in the SAF games.


8th WORLD POLICE & FIRE GAMES

8th World Police and Fire Games held at Sweden Stockholm from 16 to 24 July, 1999. BSF sportsmen represented Indian Police team in above Games and won following Medals:-
